Arrive Prepared in Alberta

Immigrating is one of the biggest changes you may face in life. Moving to a new country and adapting to a different culture can be complicated and challenging. In the months, weeks, and days leading up to your departure, you may feel a mix of excitement and uncertainty, with so many questions—where to live, where to send your children to school, and how to integrate, for example. The biggest question for most: How will I find a job in Canada?

Arrive Prepared Alberta represents SOPA (Settlement Online Pre-Arrival), a Canada-wide network of settlement agencies that provides support for immigrants who are preparing to move.

With SOPA, you will arrive prepared to find and retain a job through free online courses on job search and workplace culture, settlement resources, personalized planning and coaching.

Interact directly with our staff and access free online facilitated and self-directed employment and workplace communication training prior to your arrival.

By participating in SOPA, you will arrive in Canada better prepared, more confident, and will enter the workforce sooner.

What clients say about SOPA:

"I didn't know anything about looking for and applying for jobs in Canada. Now I am confident in creating targeted resumes, cover letters, a reference list, a LinkedIn profile and requesting informational interviews."

"I got to learn the differences between working with others in Canada and my home country as well as how to effectively communicate in the Canadian workplace. It was a very wonderful learning experience for me; I feel a lot more confident and look forward to working in Canada.

"It means a lot to me to have all this information before landing in Canada. Learning some skills that are vital in Canadian culture gave me self-confidence."
