What We Did in 2019

Updated: Aug 17, 2020

As the new year is here, we took some time to reflect on the past 12 months and look forward to 2020. 2019 was a year of growth, success and community for us. We achieved many things as a community and pushed to become even stronger at what we do. We grew within our organization, bringing new opportunities to our clients. We strengthened our relationship with the community around us, and this makes us grateful for the support that we received. Let's take a look at a few of the wonderful things we were able to accomplish this year.

Our Land of Dreams project afforded our clients the opportunity to meet friends, learn about Canada Indigenous Peoples and grow their own produce. This year, we harvested 600 lbs of produce!

Together with the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association, we came together to paint a new mural at our Margaret Chisholm Resettlement Centre in Bridgeland. It was a great way to share some laughs and meet friends!

We celebrated, for the first time, Francophone Immigration Week in Canada with our francophone/Francophile clients and partners by sharing cultural music, dance and food.

We collected and gave out winter clothing through our Jacket Racket program.

Every year we get involved with the Human Rights Forum. This year's theme was "Breaking the Cycle of Hate". We hosted a dinner with the speakers and spent the day learning from them at the forum.

In collaboration with ATB, we opened up our Centre for Entrepreneurship in Marda Loop! Here we have monthly business workshops, a Research Resource Lab, on the spot business counselling, access to business experts and monthly vendor markets to showcase small businesses.

We celebrated our volunteers!

We also celebrated the achievements of our clients through their completion of some of our programs like the Information & Technology Bridging Program.

We traveled and hosted workshops, events and a soccer team!

These are just a few things, that we accomplished this year with the support of our funders, partners, community, staff, clients and volunteers. Thank you.

2020, we are ready for you!
